Welcome to my first monthly goal update! In the past I was updating my goals weekly but it seemed like a bit much and became very redundant. Now that I’m only updating you guys monthly I feel like it will be much more interesting to see how I’ve been doing! So let’s get started.
Lose Weight, Eat Healthier, and Exercise
According to my last update I had lost 7 pounds so far. I haven’t shared my weight yet but now that I am only updating monthly it is a lot harder to remember where I am at so here it goes! I’m about 6 feet tall and as of my last update I weighed 218 lbs. When I started monitoring my goal I weighed 225 lbs and at the beginning of the year I was at 230 lbs.
My goal for July was to lose 3 more pounds to get back down to 215 lbs but I didn’t come anywhere close to that. Instead I have stayed the same and maintained my weight of 218 lbs.
So what happened? I’ve been trying to get so much done lately that something had to give. Instead of focusing on losing weight I switched to maintaining my weight for July after about a week in. I let myself eat some junk food and eat out a bit more to get it out of my system and plan to return to trying to lose weight in August.
My goal for August is to lose 4 lbs which should take me down to 214 lbs.
Quit Being So Lazy!
I wanted to try to get my motorcycle throttle handle fixed and continue hanging some doors. I had 2 regular doors and 3 closet doors left to go. I needed to cut them, paint them and hang them.
Again like my previous goal I was pretty burned out this month and decided to put these projects on hold. I’ve been spending so much time on my next goal that none of these got done. I would say that I’ve been much more productive, just not on these tasks.
My number one priority when I turn back to this list will be my motorcycle so that I can ride it when it cools off in the fall. Will it get done in August? I don’t know, but if I work on anything in this list the motorcycle should be it!
Blog Goals
Alexa
My main goal for my blog was to get my Alexa rank to go down below 200,000. My ranking was 206,643 as of my last update and I am very happy to report I have absolutely smashed the 200,000 mark and my current Alexa rank as of yesterday was 125,704!
The main reason for this goal was to qualify to become a member after successfully completing the Yakezie Challenge! Now that I have reached my Alexa rank goal I will continue to try to maintain my ranking below 200,000 but other than that Alexa rank is no longer that important to me so I won’t be updating this anymore. Thanks for all of your support!
As of my last update I had 112 twitter followers. I set a goal that I thought was unreasonable at the time, to have 150 twitter followers on July 31. Well I smashed this goal too and currently have 171 followers as of last night!
So this time I think I need to set my sights a bit higher. If I don’t quite get to this goal I’ll be OK with it but I am going to try my hardest. My goal for the end of August is to have 300 twitter followers. So, if you haven’t followed me on twitter yet I’d really appreciate you helping me to reach my end of August goal!
Feed Subscribers
Feed subscribers are much harder to gain. As of my last update I had 55 RSS feed subscribers and hoped to have 75 RSS feed subscribers by this update. This one was a close call but as of last night I have 76 RSS feed subscribers!
I haven’t been focusing on this goal as much so I’d like to keep it reasonable. I hope to have 100 feed subscribers by the end of August. So, again, if you haven’t subscribed to my RSS feed yet I’d really appreciate you helping me to reach my end of August goal!
That’s a Wrap!
That is all I have for you this update! Hopefully the monthly format will go over well and I plan on updating everyone again at the beginning of September. Time flies when you’re a blogger!
What goals have you had recently? How have you been doing on them?

Congrats on your goals! I’m trying to get my twitter followers up too

Twitter has been surprisingly successful for me… and fun too!
Specific goals are easier to achieve. “Quit being so lazy” is a tough one! Set up daily tasks seems to work for me. Good start on the weight loss.

Indeed the quit being so lazy goal is a tough one but it is exactly what I need to do!
Good job on your goals! Have a great day!

Thanks Brent! I’m glad it seems like my brand is getting out there!
You’re definitely doing awesome on the blog goals. It’s pretty easy to get addicted to working on your blog and its marketing and pushing other goals to the side. I’ve also been trying to drop down from 220 lbs, but I think I’m working against myself by building muscle when I do have find to exercise. With this reminder maybe I’ll drag myself out rollerblading this afternoon.

Once you get the Alexa goal down, its time to turn to PageRank. That seems to be the “real” big one that advertisers consider. Its good that you’ve also got goals for Twitter and the other outlets. I have done so little with these.
My goal of running is going pretty rough – I’ve got a 5K coming up that I need to be ready for!

Ah Page Rank. I don’t have one of those yet but hope to get one next update!
Congratulations! I see you’re up early every morning and posting “everywhere”
Hard work pays off – keep up the good work!! Are you coming to FINCON12 next month?
I’m trying to get my name out there that is for sure! I’d love to go to fin con but I work in accounting so the first week of every month is a no vacation time. Hopefully it is a different time of month next year…
congrats on all your goals. My weight goal is an issue for me too. I have a sweet-tooth. Likely, I’m active enough. But I do want to lose 17 lbs. My goal for August is to lose 5 lbs. I’m in no rush to lose the weight, so I’m taking my time and making a healthier choices….but I did have another sweet bite today! I’m doing CrossFit later on today, so I should work it off. Then it will be back to protein and veggies!
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Ornella. I figure it is best to have a lifestyle change and lose a couple lbs a month than yo yo diet.
Great job with the challenge – we just joined and aspire to successful completion as well!
Mind if i ask – How do you track your RSS subscribers? I added you to my pulse reader, but I’m not sure if that registers on all feed trackers.
I just track my subscribers based on what feedburner says. There is a little widget on the right sidebar that says how many subscribers I have. It seems to fluctuate a lot but it is the best number I have to judge it.
The biggest goal I want to accomplish is to get 10,000 visitors to the site. I did that a few months back but I’m a long way from it. The month-to-month goals are hard for me as I look too much big picture sometimes. I guess a good goal for me will be to get to 6,000 visitors for a month before I start dreaming about 10k.
Congrats on accomplishing many of your goals and losing those 7 lbs!

Thanks Jason. 6,000 visitors would be insane for me right now but you are further along than I am!
Looks like you’re doing great! Congrats on the Alexa.

Nice job! I have been so busy recently it has been hard to make goals. I guess my primary goal is to continue blogging every day Monday – Friday, continue to be diligent about side work (spreadsheet consulting), and my #1 goal of being diligent in the job search (looking at 4 houses tonight). They all seem to be going pretty well! Hence why I’m busy.

My big goal right now is to unpack and get rolling! Congrats on making your goal. You’re 100% right about Alexa, now that you’ve met that challenge, you’ve got lots of bigger fish.

Can’t believe it took me this long to discover your blog. You’re killin it man, well done!
My goals for August are to finish my backyard projects. I have to hang 2 gates on our new fence, building our Pergola and finish our 14′ x 18′ brick paver patio. That’s a friggin’ ton of brick (5 to be exact). If I can get it finished in time to enjoy some roasted marshmallows and an outdoor BBQ, I’ll be happy.

You’re doing great on all your goals, Lance! Sometimes weight plateaus like that because (I know it’s cliche!) but muscle really does weigh more than fat! Oh and your RSS shows 85 today! Nice jump.

Thanks Michelle. It jumped up again today to 93… maybe this one is going to skyrocket this month? I can only hope!
Great job on the goals, Yeah I scratch my head trying to understand peoples hesitation to hit a little follow button on twitter and show some support. I blame it on media overload. HA.

I’ve recently started to workout again. Man it feels good! I still find it hard to wake up at 5:40, but after I get off my treadmill, I feel a lot better and more energized!
Thanks for contributing. I don’t think I’m going to make it but it is early in the month still!
