Weekly Goal Update #9

I’ve decided to start breaking up my goal updates and my weekly round up and carnivals post. This way I can give more attention to both! If you’re not a big goals fan please tune back in on Monday for regularly scheduled programming.

If you’ve just recently started reading Money Life & More I do a weekly goal update. Recently my main focus has been on three general categories of goals, health, blog and laziness goals.

Lose Weight, Eat Healthier, and Exercise

According to my last update I had lost 9 pounds so far. My other goal  was to eat out no more than two times per week All I have to say about this week is … OOPS! It was a complete train wreck but I know exactly what went wrong. I gained three pounds.

Last weekend was very busy. We babysat a four and seven year old which ended up in us going out to lunch on Saturday. The following morning we woke up and they didn’t have any breakfast at their house so we went out to McDonald’s for breakfast. That was my goal of eating out only twice this week… except I ate out more than that.

I forgot that Monday was a birthday day at work which means we all go out to lunch to celebrate. We ended up going to a Chinese food buffet which I tried to swear off because I always overeat at them. I did pretty good and didn’t eat dessert which was huge for me… However, birthdays also mean cake in the form of cupcakes with a ton of frosting… that lasted all week. One a day definitely didn’t help.

On top of that Tuesday night was my aunt’s birthday and we went out to Po Folks (like Cracker Barrel) and after that we had cake at my parents’ house. Finally on Wednesday a regional corporate executive told someone at our office to take us all out to lunch for a job well done… one Pizza Hut buffet later I finally quit eating out this week.

Next week I really need to get back to normal.

Quit Being So Lazy!

My goal here was to hang two doors this week and replace the upstairs toilet. I hadn’t accomplished anything as of Friday morning but thanks to Andrea at So Over Debt I got my butt in gear and hung a door Friday night.

My goal for next week is to hang the other door and replace the toilet. Not having a toilet upstairs where the bedrooms are is a big pain so I need to get that done.

Blog Goals

My only blog goal for last week was to continue to have my Alexa rank go down. My ranking was 296,437 last Friday and as of yesterday it was down to 256,782. Only 56,783 to go!

I also have a couple new goals I would like to add this week.

The first is twitter followers. As of last night I had 93 twitter followers and think it would be cool to get to 100 by my next update.

The second is RSS readers. I am currently at 45 according to feedburner and would love to get up to 50. *Edit* Turns out I’m actually at 50 subscribers! YAY! I’m upping this goal to 75 but I’m guessing it will take a few weeks to get there… *Edit*

So, if you don’t follow me on twitter or subscribe to my RSS feed already I’d love it if you checked them out to see if you are interested. If not, no biggie. I appreciate you coming to read my blog.

What goals have you had recently? How have you been doing on them?

  1. The key to getting goals accomplished is breaking them down to smaller goals. It is much easier that way. One of my goals was to replace our refrigerator. It is 19 years old and the freezer is icing up and dripping. Initially, we thought we wanted a french door refrigerator, but all that changed. Last night, we bought a side by side in stainless steel for a really great price. Goal accomplished!

  2. I love the “goals” posts. Don’t beat yourself up. Some weeks are better than others. Just a tip about breakfast, keep cereal, milk and fruit in the house at all times :) . Okay, that’s enough of my “mom” advice.

    • Thanks! I do normally eat cereal every morning except sometimes on weekends I’ll have something different or eat a late breakfast.
